W-404 EXP

STYRENE ACRYLIC SELF-CROSSLINKING COPOLYMER FOR RUST CONVERSION

W-404 EXP is a styrene-acrylic copolymer based on self-crosslinking technology that was developed to be used over ferrous surfaces with high degree of oxidation, reacting directly with the substrate’s rusted areas, so no surface treatment is necessary before applying.

This binder was developed to be used over ferrous surfaces with a high degree of oxidation, where the removal of rust is not possible or cannot be done easily. The function of this ready-to-use product is to transform all the ferric oxide into a black film based on an inert and non-corrosive ferrous complex.

W-404 EXP is a rust converter for all types of ferrous metallic surfaces. This polymer may be coated afterwards with a water-based or solvent-based paint, working also as a barrier to avoid surface corrosion.

KEY BENEFITS OF THE PRODUCT

  • Ready-to-use (no formulation needed)
  • No need to sand or sandblast the rusted surfaces
  • Excellent adhesion over rusted surfaces
  • May be coated with water-based and solvent-based paints
  • It can be applied to any metallic surface
  • We strongly recommend using corrosion inhibitors and anticorrosive pigments in the top-coating to extend the surface protection.

Tests were based on the standard ASTM D3359.
